Raoul's second response

The first half of the first chapter was strange, but the second half was bizarre. I still like the book because it still has me guessing and wondering; however, some of the things that are occurring don’t really make sense. I know that every thing will be explained in the next chapters, so I am not truly worried, but I am curious. Reading Atlas Shrugged and The Trial at the same time is also getting me a bit confused.

I do not fully understand what is going on with the relationship between Joseph K. and Fräulein Bürstner (where is this name from?). At first, it seems that K. just wanted to apologize to her, then it seems like he wanted her help, then it seemed like they had a bit of a sexual relationship. I’m wondering how old Fräulein Bürstner is because their relationship could be illegal. Why are K. and Fräulein Bürstner both scared of the Captain?

I also do not understand the legal system of this country at all. Why have they still not told him what he is accused of? Why is this arrest so strange? I still believe that the legal system in this country leans towards guilty until proven innocent (compared to our Innocent until proven guilty).

I still want to find out why K. has been arrested. Is he going to be charged as guilty?  Honestly, I am truly enjoying this novel and want to continue reading it.
